Physical Exams

An annual physical examination is essential for the long term well-being of all your pets. This allows us to prevent many diseases or treat diseases in the early stages before they become life threatening. Geriatric animals may require more frequent exams. Also, if your pet is exhibiting any signs or behaviors which are unusual, consult your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Heartworm Prevention

We recommend using Heartguard Plus for heartworm prevention. We also recommend having your pet tested for heartworm disease on an annual basis.

Flea and Tick Prevention

We recommend monthly application of Frontline or Advantage for prevention of fleas and ticks.

Vaccinations

We recommend yearly vaccinations and rabies vaccinations every 3 years.

Veterinary Acupuncture

The Marina Pet Hospital Group is proud to offer veterinary acupuncture to our patients. Acupuncture services are available at Danville Veterinary Hospital. We ask our clients to call the hospital and make an appointment with Dr. Connie Wong.

Acupuncture involves inserting very fine, sterile needles into the skin to stimulate specific anatomic points in the body. This stimulation produces physiologic changes through signaling the nervous system. Acupuncture is used to relieve the symptoms of a condition or reduce the dose of medications, as well as encourage the patient's body to heal itself, if it is able. Acupuncture can be used alone or in addition to conventional medical treatments. Many common conditions can be treated effectively with acupuncture, such as musculoskeletal pain, skin problems, neurologic problems, epilepsy, stomach or intestinal problems. The length, number and frequency of treatments varies from pet to pet. This depends on the condition being treated, the age and health of the pet, and how he or she responds to acupuncture. Generally, acute problems require fewer treatments, whereas more chronic or severe ailments may require several, or even several dozen, treatments. Sequential treatments yield more benefits and a positive response is usually seen in the first five treatments.
